Welcome to the enchanting island of Norderney, one of the most beautiful islands in Germany and a popular destination for visitors from all over the world. Of the seven East Frisian islands, it is one of the best known. The island is not far from the Familotel Deichkrone in north-west Germany and is a proud part of the Wadden Sea UNESCO World Heritage Site.
This place is a real family tip and offers many excursions for young and old. Nature is particularly inspiring. Some outdoor activities will enchant water lovers and nature enthusiasts. Here are the possibilities:
In addition to outdoor activities, Norderney also has a lively cultural and art scene. There are regular concerts, exhibitions and events on the island throughout the year. And what would a holiday be without good food and drink? Culinary delights are not neglected on Norderney - numerous restaurants, cafés and bars offer regional and international specialities.
Norderney also has a number of sights for history buffs. Buildings worth seeing such as the Conversationshaus, the "Selden Rüst" windmill, the Marienhöhe - a dune with a café and beautiful views - and the old lighthouse are an absolute must. For anyone interested in the past of the seaside resorts and their cult status, the bathing museum offers exciting insights into times gone by.
Our tip for little explorers: If you want to see a real wreck, head to the eastern end of the island.
If it is clear, Norderney can already be seen from the Molenkopf in Norddeich. During the 45 to 60-minute trip, you can see both the seal banks and the beautiful western promenade of the island of Norderney. The island ferry takes you from Norddeich to Norderney and back again. The daily timetable makes it easy to plan your family trip, especially as small children under the age of 6 travel for free. When you get back to the hotel after an exhausting excursion, delicious dishes from our restaurant or pizzeria will be waiting for you. That sounds almost too good to be true!
